Into The Great Wide Open, Vlieland – 2010

Into The Great Wide Open is a three-day music festival on the island of Vlieland. Beside music it also brings attention to visual art, film and nature. I was asked to provide a visual activity on location. The graveyard caught my attention, a place of stillness and history in the middle of all of the bubbling energy of the festival. I wanted to commemorate the dead. In front of the church next to the graveyard, we used the Time Office and Memory Things to ask visitors for stories about their dead. Surprising, intimate and moving. People found it wonderful to talk about that. With Anouk de Bruyn, Jaïri Terpstra and Bill Wei.
